AI Prompts Have Changed—Are You Stuck in 2023?
The old way of prompting AI is dead. Here’s the 4-step framework that actually works in 2025.
Most sellers are still using AI like it’s 2023… and it’s costing them sales.
THE OLD WAY
What was true in 2023 is no longer true today.
A few years ago when AI first burst on the scene "prompt engineering" was everything—you had to craft the perfect, complex prompt to squeeze a good response out of ChatGPT.
But that’s outdated thinking.
The NEW WAY
The AI of today is like your hardworking intern.
You speak to it in plain English.
It is hardworking and eager to get work done.
It is only as good as how you train it and how you guide it.
And AI will make mistakes (like humans).
The truth is, what worked for AI 1.0 is now obsolete.
Now with the advent of the latest models of AI such as ChatGPT 4.5, Claude Sonnet 3.7, Deep Seek, and Deep Research, you need a different approach to get the right results.
That’s why I’m going to teach you my GOLD Method—a simple 4-step process for getting AI to deliver exactly what you want, every time.
The GOLD Method for AI Prompts
G - Goal: First, tell AI exactly what output you want.
O - Output: Be specific in the format of the output —do you want bullet points, a script, an ad copy?
L - Limits: Set guardrails to avoid hallucinations or generic fluff.
D - Details: Give AI context and background—the more you feed it, the better the output.
Step 1) GOAL - First tell the AI what output you want. Be specific.
For example if I were writing a listing for a kite on Amazon I would start the prompt like this.
PROMPT Part 1: Generate 5 Amazon listing bullet points for my kite that highlights it’s differentiation, keywords, and benefits.
Step 2) Output Format - How do you want the output structured?
Then I would tell AI the format of the results that I need.
PROMPT Part 2: Write 5 bullet points with focus on converting the customer. Emphasize benefits over features.
Step 3) Limits - Give the AI guardrails of what NOT to do.
If it’s prone to hallucinate - give it a warning to make sure that all data is correct and to cite sources.
Next I would add the phrases and language to stay away from that would make the listing generic.
PROMPT Part 3: Do not use generic phrases like “unleash” “but that’s not all” and other derivative AI-speak that would enshitify the listing.
4) Details - Give it Context and background to improve accuracy.
If you were asking an intern to write an Amazon listing, wouldn’t you show her examples of good product listings that convert?
And show Amazon Seller Central Guidelines for writing listings and common terms of service violations (i.e. including competitors brand names)?
And you can even share screenshots of competitors listings and their negative reviews so you can highlight how your product is superior.
Also you can give it relevant keywords that you want to rank for.
Don’t forget who is the target avatar that the listing is speaking to? Parents, home cooks, grandmothers? Tell the AI to write it to that specific target customer.
So I may add something like this.
Prompt Part 4 (Details): Pls see attached PDFs for examples of bestselling similar kites on Amazon. Note their listing style and language. Also see attached Amazon Product Description guidelines. Pay attention to the potential TOS violations such as using competitors brands. See also attached screenshots of the bestseller in kites. See also their negative reviews so we can highlight how our product is better. See attached list of keywords we’d like to rank and use them in the product listing. The target avatar is a parent that wants less screen time for their child and for them to have more outdoor activity. (attach files)
With the GOLD AI prompt formula, you can strike gold with every AI prompt.
But even the perfect prompt is useless if you're using the wrong tools.
AI is evolving faster than ever. If you're still only using the tools that worked in 2023, you're already behind.
That’s why I’m giving a live training next week to help you cut through the noise and focus on the AI tools that actually move the needle.
In this LIVE session, I’ll not only break down the GOLD Method step by step, but I’ll also show you the 80/20 AI tools that I actually use to grow e-commerce brands.
No fluff. No wasted time. Just the AI tools that work.
